In June 2022 we reported that the anime adaptation of the horror manga Uzumaki in Junji Ito had been delayed “to replicate the quality of the manga’s intricate designs and detailed linework.” But now good news has emerged from the mangaka himself.
In a recent interview with the Japan Times, Junji Ito revealed that the 4 episodes of the anime Uzumaki are already completed and approved by him. Ito stated:
It has a charm that makes it clear why some people are obsessed with discovering the secret of its pattern, but unraveling it will be difficult and will likely plunge the world into chaos.
The article also reveals that the anime of Uzumaki will premiere in 2024 on Adult Swim.

Uzumaki was published in Japan by the magazine Big Comic Spirits in three volumes between 1998 and 1999. The series takes place in the peaceful city of Kurozu-cho, where its residents begin to have a strange and morbid interest in spirals.
The manga even gained two games and a live action film adaptation in the 2000s.
