APTX 4869 is a deadly drug or poison developed by the Black Organization. The goal is none other than to eliminate the life of the target without leaving any traces.
However, there is another side effect, where the drug APTX 4869 can change the age of the victim to be younger. The reason is, the drug returns everything to being like a child, except the nervous system. That is why the victim’s personality and memory are not affected.
Throughout the series, there are five known characters Detective Conan who took the drug APTX 4869, three of them got smaller, while the rest died. Here’s the discussion!
Character Shrinking Due to APTX 4869 Poison
1. Shinichi Kudo
dock. TMS Entertainment/ Detective ConanShinichi Kudo was the first victim of APTX 4869. At that time, Shinichi witnessed illegal transactions being carried out by members of the Black Organization, namely Gin and Vodka, at an amusement park.
After successfully making the teenage detective lose consciousness, Gin and Vodka drank APTX 4869 poison on him. Of course, their goal is to kill Shinichi.
Gin and Vodka just left Shinichi. However, what happened was that Shinichi’s body returned to the age of a child. For his safety, Shinichi faked his death and disguised himself as Conan Edogawa.
2. Shiho Miyano
dock. TMS Entertainment/ Detective ConanNext, there is Shiho Miyano, aka the real figure behind the APTX 4869 poison. Shiho used to work for the Black Organization. He was assigned to continue the project of his late parents, namely developing the APTX 4869.
One day, his older sister, Akemi Miyano, who was also a member of the Black Organization, was killed by Gin after carrying out a bank robbery mission. He was shot for no apparent reason.
Instead of getting answers, Shiho, who asked for an explanation about Akemi’s death, was detained and will be executed. Refusing to die at the hands of the Black Organization, Shiho decided to end her own life by drinking APTX 4869.
Like Shinichi, Shiho’s body also shrank. He took advantage of this situation to escape. Shiho has now changed her identity to Ai Haibara and is working with Conan and Professor Agasa to find an antidote to APTX 4869.
3. Mary Sera
dock. TMS Entertainment/ Detective ConanEven though she looks like a junior high school student, Mary Sera is in fact an adult woman with 3 children who is more than half a century old. As Conan predicted, Mary was actually 53 years old.
Mary Sera is an MI6 intelligence agent and the aunt of Shiho Miyano. Mary gets involved in a case which then brings her together with Vermouth. By the executive members of the Black Organization, Mary was forced to swallow APTX 4869.
Like Conan and Ai, the effect on Mary’s body made her body shrink. Now, for the safety of herself and her daughter, Masumi Sera, Mary just has to move from one hotel to another.
Characters Killed by APTX 4869 Poison
4. Kohji Haneda
Kohji Haneda (doc. TMS Entertainment/ Detective Conan)Kohji Haneda is a player shogi professional who has achieved as many as 4 degrees shogi. He died mysteriously in the United States, while participating in a chess tournament.
It has not been confirmed whether Kohji’s death was actually caused by APTX 4869. However, Ai Haibara confirmed that his name was on the list of victims killed by the Black Organization’s poison.
Apart from that, a death message was also found in the form of random letters which, when arranged, would form the words “ASACA RUM”, indicating that the second person in the organization, namely Rum, was most likely involved in Kohji’s death case.
5. Amanda Hughes
Amanda Hughes (doc. TMS Entertainment/ Detective Conan)Finally, there is Amanda Hughes, a VIP from America who has special ties to the FBI and CIA. His power at that time was the reason why the Black Organization was targeting this potential successor to the US President.
It was also stated that, at a young age, Amanda had met Rum, who was an executive of the Black Organization.
On the day of his death, this Kohji Haneda fan was forced to consume poison developed by the organization to save his adopted daughter, Rachel Asaka.
