Yoriichi Tsugikuni is the strongest human in Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is the only one who can defeat Muzan alone so far. In Tanjiro’s era, the Hashira have to gang up on Muzan and the devil can still dominate.
However, what is sad: Yoriichi’s life is full of failures. These are the five failures of Yoriichi Tsugikuni in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba!
1. Failure to save his own wife and child
mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/Kimetsu no YaibaIn chapter 186, it is revealed that Yoriichi actually had a wife. He also almost had a child. If everything had gone normally, Yoriichi might have grown up as a normal human.
But when Yoriichi went to find a midwife, when he returned his wife and unborn child had been brutally slaughtered. If only Yoriichi had gotten home sooner he might have been able to defeat the attacker, but fate had other plans.
2. Failure to kill Muzan Kibutsuji
mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/Kimetsu no YaibaYoriichi was actually the one who came closest to killing Muzan. He even did it all by himself! But because he was careless, he failed to kill Muzan. Muzan and Kokushibo then slaughtered those who could use Sun Breath.
3. Couldn’t prevent Michikatsu Tsugikuni from becoming a demon
twitter.com/shonenjumpMichikatsu Tsugikuni is Yoriichi’s brother. Muzan used the darkness in Michikatsu’s heart to persuade the young man to become a demon. Michikatsu then developed into Muzan’s strongest follower for hundreds of years under the name Kokushibo.
Yoriichi’s main failure was actually that he was too naive, to the point of never realizing that Michikatsu had always had a dark side inside him since childhood.
4. Failure to kill Kokushibo at the end of his life

Yoriichi was still so strong that one of his attacks almost killed Kokushibo. Unfortunately, that one attack was the last one Yoriichi could do. He failed to kill Kokushibo at the end of his life.
5. Kicked out of the demon slayer corps

Because of this, despite his greatness, Yoriichi’s record in the corps’ history is vague and unknown to the public.
I think the corps will definitely understand that Yoriichi can’t kill Muzan. I’m pessimistic that Yoriichi’s comrades can finish Muzan off in the same situation. The corps might also understand if Tamayo is spared.
The main problem is probably Yoriichi’s brother becoming a demon. This is such a big mistake in the corps, that in Tanjiro’s era, Zenitsu’s teacher committed suicide when his student became a demon.
Those are the five failures of Yoriichi Tsugikuni in Kimetsu no Yaiba. It’s sad, huh? There are things that Yoriichi can’t achieve even though he is the best swordsman in the world. Kimetsu no Yaiba. What do you think?
