A Tokuma Shoten announced that it is working on a remaster for 4K from the anime Angel’s Egg (Tenshi no Tamago) by Mamoru Oshii It is Yoshitaka Amano.

This 4K remaster celebrates 40 years since the anime’s debut and the remastering work is being based on a scan of a 35mm copy of the film and supervised by Mamoru Oshii.

The OVA Angel’s Egg (Tenshi no Tamago) was released in 1985 with animation by Studio Deenthe direction is Mamoru Oshii who wrote the story together with Yoshitaka Amanowho in turn was also responsible for the art direction.

Hiroshi Hasegawa, Masao Kobayashi, Mitsunori Miura, and Yutaka Wada produced the anime, with Yoshihiro Kanno composing the music.

In the description of Angel’s Egg (Tenshi no Tamago) we can read:

Taking place in a seemingly peaceful time, two nameless strangers – a girl carrying a mystical egg and a man with a cane – travel through a primordial realm of decaying ruins, primeval fish and fossilized relics. An allegorical fantasy enriched by symbolism and biblical allusion, Oshii’s beautifully melancholic OVA ruminates on the tragic foundations of existence in a world untouched by God.
