The Ranma 1/2 anime remake was recently announced and a visual and a PV were released as well as the information that the MAPPA studio will animate it and that its premiere is approaching, on October 5th.
But another thing that made fans happy is that the old voice actors will return to reprise their roles! So Ranma (male and female), Akane, Kasumi, Shampoo, Ryoga, Nabiki will have the same voices as in the old anime.
Average Age of Ranma Voice Actors is 60
And what’s surprising is the age of the voice actors! To give you an idea, a fan listed the ages of the voice actors who will reprise their roles:

- Ranma Man > voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi, 59 years old
- Female Ranma > voiced by Megumi Hayashibara, 57 years old
- Akane Tendo > voiced by Noriko Hidaka, 62 years old
- Kasumi Tendo > Kikuko Inoue, 17 years old
- Nabiki Tendo > Minami Takayama, 60 years old
- Hibiki Ryoga > Koichi Yamadera, 63 years old
- Shampoo > Rei Sakuma, 59 years old
The original Ranma 1/2 anime premiered in 1989, so that’s 35 years ago! That means their ages when the anime premiered were as follows:
- Ranma Man > voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi, 24 years old
- Female Ranma > voiced by Megumi Hayashibara, 22 years old
- Akane Tendo > voiced by Noriko Hidaka, 27 years old
- Kasumi Tendo > Kikuko Inoue, 17 years old
- Nabiki Tendo > Minami Takayama, 25 years old
- Hibiki Ryoga > Koichi Yamadera, 28 years old
- Shampoo > Rei Sakuma, 24 years old
It’s impressive that they returned to dub their characters, considering I watched the original and at least in that one there was a lot of screaming and shouting because of all the comedy.
We will see how fans reacted?
“There’s only one new person coming, right? I hope she’ll put in some effort among the veterans.”
“Alumni reunion?”
“Hey, there’s a veteran newbie here, huh?”
“Playing the same role at 17 as I did 35 years ago…”
“The daughter has already surpassed her mother’s age…”
“We have a newbie among the veterans! But wait, that doesn’t make sense…”
“The voice actor’s voice is like an elf, but it sounds like there’s a real elf mixed in there, haha.”
Most of the comments there refer to voice actress Kikuko Inoue, who jokes with her fans that she founded the “17-year-old cult,” so she’s 17 forever.
