Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga is a new season of the anime based on Kazue Katō’s Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist) manga, which will adapt volumes 10 to 15 of the original manga.
The new anime season will continue the story of Rin and Yukio Okumura, two orphaned brothers living under the care of Father Shiro Fujimoto in a world where demons need to be exorcised. But there’s a great mystery surrounding Rin, and when he discovers it, he’ll have to overcome many obstacles if he wants to become an exorcist and help combat the evil afflicting the world.
The new anime season will be produced by Studio VOLN (known for Ushio & Tora, Idol Incidents), directed by Daisuke Yoshida (Sōten Kōro, Idol Incidents), written by Toshiya Ono, character design by Yurie Oohigashi, and music composed by Kohta Yamamoto and Hiroyuki Sawano.
Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga will have 12 episodes released later in 2 DVD/BD volumes. The release date has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be in 2024.
Blue Exorcist (Ao no Exorcist) began serialization in 2009 in Jump SQ. magazine and currently has 25 million copies in circulation. In Portugal, it is published by the Becoming publisher.
In 2011, the manga inspired a 25-episode anime series and the OVA Blue Exorcist: Kuro Runs Away From Home. The anime series Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga premiered in 2017 with 12 episodes.
