Following news of multiple layoffs at Bungie and postponements of releases, the North American producer of Destiny two issued a statement acknowledging the problems and promising to regain the players’ trust.

We can read in your statement nicknamed “The Path Forward“:

With the departure of people we respect and admire, this has been one of the most difficult weeks in our studio’s history. We’ve spent this week supporting each other, including people in the studio and colleagues who are no longer part of it.

We want to address all of the opinions and concerns you’ve expressed about Fall of Light and recent seasons, as well as what you thought of the reveal of The Final Form. We know that we have lost a large part of your trust. Destiny needs to surprise and delight. We have not reached this goal, and that will change.

For us, the path forward is clear: we need to make The Final Form an unforgettable Destiny experience. We want to create something at the level of the best games we’ve ever made – a worthy result that does justice to the journey we’ve been on together over the last ten years. Forsaken, The Witch Queen and The Taken King – these are the quality standards we want to achieve.

We are fully focused on exceeding your expectations for The Final Form. Destiny 2 has more than 650 employees dedicating all their effort and knowledge to delivering this epic moment and its subsequent Episodes.

In the coming weeks, you’ll hear more from us about what’s coming in the near future, starting with our next season at the end of November. Then, we will begin to reveal the broader, bolder, and more promising vision our team has for The Final Form, as well as what we intend to do to lead us out of this Darkness and into the Light.

See you in the stars,

Destiny 2 Development Team
