A Crunchyroll released the first trailer for the anime series adaptation of the novel online Bye Bye, Earth in Tow Ubukata where the staff is revealed and premieres in 2024. The trailer was shown first on the Crunchyroll at New York Comic Con and below you can see a promotional image.
Scheduled to premiere in 2024, we learn that the animation is the responsibility of the studio Liden Films (BASTARD!!, The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Terra Formars, Hanebado!), directed by Yasuto Nishikata (The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky, Hortensia Saga, Killing Bites), the argument is Hiroyuki Yoshino (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Macross Frontier, World Trigger, Izetta: The Last Witch) and the character design is by Yūki Hino. Music is the responsibility of Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss, The Rising of The Shield Hero, The Apothecary Diaries).
In the cast we have Fairouz Ai as Belle Lablac.
The fantasy novel Bye-Bye, Earth in Ubukata was first released in two volumes in December 2000 with art by Yoshitaka Amano. The work then received a new edition in four volumes from 2007 to 2008 with illustrations by Hyung-Tae Kim.
A manga adaptation began publication in January 2020 and ended on July 29, 2022. The manga consists of 4 volumes, the last of which was released on September 30, 2022.
Synopsis of Bye Bye, Earth
The story takes place on an Earth where all people take the form of animals. Bell is the only girl in the world without animal characteristics. She sets out to find out if there are other beings like her. Bell wields a sword and becomes involved in the fights between the cities and the outside world.
The novel Mardock Scramble in Ubukata inspired an anime and manga film adaptation. Ubukata also wrote the script for animes such as Ghost in the Shell Arise, Heroic Age, Fafner, Psycho-Pass 2 It is Human Lost.
