CONFESSION manga will have live-action film

With this trailer and promotional image it was announced by GAGA Corporation that in May 2024 a live-action film adaptation of the manga will debut Kokuhaku -CONFESSION- in Nobuyuki Fukumoto (Kaiji) and Kaiji Kawaguchi (The Silent Service).

It was revealed that in the main roles we will find Toma Ikuta (live-action by Hana Zakari no Kimi-tachi e, Honey and Clover) and Yang Ik-june (Breathless, Wilderness). The direction is Nobuhiro Yamashita (Linda Linda Linda, Let’s Go Karaoke!) and the argument is Shūji Yuki It is Ryō Takada.

The film changes Ishikura’s character to a Korean student named Ryu Ji-Yeong, with Yang Ik-june playing the character. Toma Ikuta plays Asai.

Kokuhaku -CONFESSION- it was published from 1997 to 1998 in Young Magazine Uppers and compiled in a single volume.

Synopsis of Kokuhaku -CONFESSION-

The manga’s story follows Asai and Ishikura, two friends who have been climbing mountains since college. Trapped on a mountain due to an accident and on the verge of death, Ishikura decides to confide in Asai in her last moments that she committed a murder a long time ago. But when they find a mountain cabin to take shelter, the two survive. With the confession hanging over their heads, they spend a strange night in the cabin.

Fukumoto released the manga Akagi in 1992, which lasted 27 years. The manga inspired an anime series in 2005 by the studio Madhouse. The manga also inspired a 10-episode live-action series in summer 2015. A second season premiered in October 2017. A three-episode live-action miniseries premiered in May 2018.
