Crunchyroll Has Removed Comments From Entire Site

Why Did Crunchyroll Remove Comments?

Crunchyroll did not give the exact reason why the comments were removed from the site but two “controversies” involving the site occurred at the same time which could explain this.

First we have the case of the anime Twilight out of Focus, which is a Yaoi anime that premiered last week, it ended up receiving several negative comments and reviews for being Yaoi.

Some comments that were made:

“LGBT shit, run away. Another attempt by Crunchyroll or the alphabet guys to make something alien acceptable, it won’t happen”

“Listen here Crunchyroll, you don’t give me the option to disable certain genres in the settings. So if I find Yaoi crap like this in my feed, I’m going to give my honest opinion.”

“One of the most trashy animes, I just hate it, this anime needs to have the lowest rating on Crunchyroll”

“Make it the worst rated anime on Crunchyroll”

“Nobody wanted this, I was thinking what kind of anime was this and it’s a gay male anime, it’s so disgusting that only a few girls will be interested in it. Doesn’t Crunchyroll realize that most people who watch anime are men?”

Another issue involved the subtitles for episode 1 of “Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan.” Many found the subtitles to be odd and concluded that they were done by AI. This led to criticism of Crunchyroll, accusing it of using AI to translate the episode.

Some defended Crunchyroll, saying it wasn’t AI, but rather a human translator who didn’t pay attention to the text, resulting in subtitles with errors.

Regardless of the reason, many users enjoyed seeing the community’s opinions. The removal of comments left some fans disappointed.
