Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a series Shounen Koyoharu Gotouge’s work is currently a hot topic among anime fans.
Overall, Kimetsu no Yaiba highlights the battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the Demons. Thus, death has become one of the unavoidable moments for every character who goes down to the battlefield.
Especially the Pillars, they can be said to be the characters most vulnerable to the tragedy. Because, they are the main force of the corps who will certainly face the strongest Devil, namely Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Moon Devil.
The following are the Hashira deaths in chronological order. Demon Slayer.
1. Kanae Kocho – Flower Hashira
Kanae Kocho is the first Hashira to be told to have fallen in this series. The older sister of Insect Pillar Shinobu Kocho was once the Flower Pillar. She was defeated by the Upper Moon Demon 2, Douma. However, the incident was only told in flashbacks.
Because, Kanae died before the series’ plot KnY begins. She is depicted as a gentle and loving person. Kanae’s death actually has no major impact on the development of the story, but it underlies Shinobu’s determination to become her successor.
2. Kyojuro Rengoku – Fire Hashira
Kyojuro Rengoku is the first Hashira whose death is directly told in the series. This Fire Pillar was killed by Akaza, the Upper Moon Demon 3, precisely during Mugen Train Arc.
Kyojuro was not defeated easily. He fought Akaza until the sun was about to rise, and managed to put pressure and fatal wounds on the Demon. Moreover, Kyojuro had previously run out of energy due to the battle against Lower Moon Enmu.
Kyojuro’s death was one of the biggest heartbreaks for fans. His character was truly memorable for many people.
3. Jigoro Kuwajima – Lightning Hashira
Jigoro Kuwajima is a former Lightning Hashira and mentor to Zenitsu Agatsuma and Kaigaku. However, at the age of 35, Jigoro lost one of his legs in battle, thus deciding to retire from Demon Slayer.
Jigoro died not because of a Demon, but because of his decision to end his own life by seppuku. The reason he did that was because of his feelings of guilt and disappointment because his student, Kaigaku, chose to betray the corps and become a Demon.
Unfortunately, the chronology of Jigoro’s death was not explained in detail. Zenitsu himself only received the news during the Hashira Training arc. However, many speculate that the incident occurred before Zenitsu took part in the Final Selection.
4. Shinobu Kocho – Insect Hashira
After the Mugen Train arc, there have been no more casualties from the Demon Slayer Corps, to be exact until Hashira Training Arc. Now, Final Battle Arc which opens with an arc Infinity Castle-is the one who will start the massive fight throughout the series Demon Slayer This.
The first victim from the Demon Slayer Corps was Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Pillar. Kanao Tsuyuri’s mentor is determined to avenge the death of her older sister, Kanae, who was previously killed by Doma.
During the Hashira Training arc, Shinobu had prepared herself for the fight against the Upper Moon Demon 2. She swallowed her own weight in Wisteria poison, then had Doma ‘eat’ it along with the poison in his body.
The strategy succeeded in weakening Doma’s body, allowing Kanao and Inosuke to join in and continue the battle.
5. Muichiro Tokito – Hashira of the Mist
Mist Pillar Muichiro Tokito was the youngest Hashira. Unfortunately, his life was short-lived because he was killed by his own ancestor, the Upper Moon Demon 1 Kokushibo.
Muichiro fights back Upper Moon The strongest, whose real name is Michikatsu Tsugikuni, is with the Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa and his younger brother, Genya, and the Rock Hashira Gyomei Himejima.
Muichiro died in a tragic way, where his body was cut into 2. However, before that he managed to stab the katana nichirin which changed color to red due to the awakening of Muichiro’s Demon Slayer Mark into Kokushibo’s body.
Even though he ultimately lost his life, Muichiro’s actions were still one of the main determinants of the corps’ victory over Kokushibo.
6. Mitsuri Kanroji – The Love Hashira
Mitsuri Kanroji first demonstrated her power as the Pillar of Love during the fight against Hantengu’s strongest clone in the Swordsmith Village. At that time, she managed to awaken her Demon Slayer Mark for the first time.
During Infinity Castle Arc, Mitsuri was involved in a battle against the Biwa Demon Nakime who at that time had filled Hantengu’s position as the 4th Upper Moon Demon. She was not alone, she fought with her crush, Obanai.
After Nakime was defeated, Mitsuri and Obanai helped Tanjiro fight the Demon King Muzan. Mitsuri suffered fatal injuries from the 2 fights she went through. The injuries caused Mitsuri’s death. She breathed her last in Obanai’s arms.
7. Obanai Iguro – Snake Hashira
As previously discussed, the Snake Hashira Obanai Iguro fought against Nakime in Infinity Castle with Mitsuri. He also joined in fighting Muzan and resurrected Demon Slayer Mark-then followed by the death of his sweetheart after previously having made a promise that the two of them would marry and live a normal life if they were destined to be reincarnated.
Obanai’s actions as a Pillar are not highlighted much in the story. However, the anime adaptation of the Hashira Training arc during the fourth season has given him several opportunities to show his strength through original scene.
8. Gyomei Himejima – Stone Hashira
The last Hashira to be reported to have fallen according to chronology was Gyomei Himejima. This Stone Pillar was recognized as the strongest of all the Pillars, especially in terms of physical strength.
Gyomei fights alongside Muichiro, Sanemi, and Genya against Kokushibo, where he is able to awaken his Demon Slayer Mark. The mark grants him the ability to see the Transparent World.
After the strongest Moon Demon was defeated, Gyomei faced Muzan Kibutsuji and managed to make a big impact in the process.
Gyomei eventually died from his wounds. In his illusion, the spirits of the children he had once cared for came to pick him up together.
