Kadokawa investigates cyber attack | OtakuPT

A Kadokawa Corporation released a statement after several of the group’s websites were unavailable in response to what the company suspects was a cyberattack.

A Kadokawa stated that in the early hours of June 8, a problem occurred that prevented access to several of the company’s servers and that to protect the data, it immediately shut down the servers affected by the incident. Kadokawa conducted an internal review and investigation on the same day and determined that there is a great possibility that the company has been victim of a cyber attack.

A Kadokawa is currently working to protect and restore your system and is still investigating the issue and checking whether any information on the sites has been accessed by third parties. A Kadokawa also confirmed that among the affected services are also Nico Nico and the ebten.

A Nico Nico also issued a statement revealing that it is also investigating the incident and taking preventative measures, but the company stated that it cannot begin restoring services until be confident that you have completely eliminated the effects of the alleged cyber attack.

Meanwhile the Kadokawa stated that it will continue and investigate the incident with the cooperation of other experts and the police, and will take swift action accordingly. A Kadokawa added that it will also provide an update once it has identified a precise scope of impact and gathered more information about the incident.
