Recently, the author of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama, ended up passing away after spending, according to some reports, at least 1 year in the hospital with health problems.
One of the many artists who spoke about Akira is Kentaro Yabuki, illustrator of To Love-ru and author of Ayakashi Triangle. In a post on Twitter, Kentaro Yabuki talks about Toriyama and how he influenced him in his work as a manga artist, posting his Dragon Ball illustrations in the process:
”I posted this postcard when I was in high school. A Dragon Ball Fusion Contest, the proposal was rejected, but it is very interesting. I’m posting it for a few laughs.”

Kentaro Yabuki continues saying:
“It’s kind of embarrassing to see this 30 years later. Why isn’t there a single wrinkle? Was it in my library or at my parents’ house? I do not remember this”

It’s worth remembering that Akira Toriyama served as a source of inspiration for many manga artists we know. And many of them expressed their sadness and pain at the news of Akira Toriyama’s passing.
