What attracts attention about Kimetsu no Yaiba is without a doubt its absurdly beautiful animation. Run by ufotable studios, the anime based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga has had a huge effect on the entire anime industry, even influencing the return of hits like the new Bleach TYBW anime.

And why do I say this? Well, the president of Pierrot Studios, Michiyuki Honma, recently participated in an interview where he stated that the success of Kimetsu no Yaiba greatly influenced the decisions for the new Bleach TYBW anime.

Kimetsu no Yaiba influenced Pierrot

Honma says that the Kimetsu no Yaiba anime not only prompted the returns of Bleach and Kingdom with short seasons instead of full animes, but that its effect was felt throughout the industry.

Honma says: “I think Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba was a huge and important turning point for the anime industry. It was a high-quality work, which required a lot of time and a generous budget, and was a great success when it was aired, attracting people of different ages.”

“I saw that, before and after Demon Slayer, I felt like we had to change the way we create anime. Furthermore, other studios were releasing high-quality work on a similar scale, and Japan has an environment where this can be seen on commercial television.”

“”BLEACH” also had a great impact abroad. When I go to events abroad, I am treated like a hero (laughs). However, this is due to the fact that all Pierrot employees have changed their mentality and are taking the work seriously. “Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai”, which has been broadcast since April, is also a work made in this new style, so please pay attention. Although there are many series that are currently on pause, look forward to the future of Pierrot as it ventures into creating new anime.”

Pierrot is the studio responsible for long-running animes such as Naruto, Bleach, Black Clover and Boruto. Honma says Pierrot’s legacy is “without a doubt wonderful”but, ”presents major risks in terms of large budgets and time costs”.

Honma wants Pierrot to be number one adapting animes with this format like the new Bleach anime. He ends by saying: ”Please keep an eye on the future of Pierrot, who is taking on the challenge of creating new anime.”

It’s worth remembering that the next season of Demon Slayer, which covers the Hashiras’ training arc, will premiere on May 12th, check out the trailer below:
