Miku’s Husband Tells People to Differentiate Reality from Fiction

Akihiko Kondo is famous among otakus for his marriage to Hatsune Miku. Yes, he is the man who decided to marry Miku after having bad experiences with real women.

He recently made headlines again by sharing his opinion on underage fictional characters. On his Twitter profile Akihiko Kondo said the following:

“I get criticism for marrying Hatsune Miku, who is 16 years old. However, a fictional character who is 16 years old is not the same as a real person who is 16 years old. I always say, ‘Hatsune Miku is a fictional character.’ Please differentiate between reality and fiction.”

You might find this hilarious coming from Akihiko Kondo, who married a fictional character. However, he married Miku precisely because he knows she’s fictional and prefers not to date real women.

On the internet, there are many people who take the age of fictional characters very seriously. Let’s see some responses that Akihiko Kondo received?

  • “Miku is 16 years old since 2007.”
  • “I can’t believe this conversation is happening.”
  • “There is a big problem among young people on the internet who cannot differentiate between a fake character and reality.”
  • “Well, Miku is 34 now…”
  • “Miku’s age hasn’t been set exactly, she could be any age.”
  • “Distinguish between fiction and reality. My brother in Christ, please take your own advice. You married a fictional character. This is Chris-Chan dimensional fusion level nonsense if I’ve ever seen it.”

And here we have someone who didn’t get Akihiko Kondo’s point:

  • “Can we talk about the irony of this guy who married a fictional character talking about differentiating reality from fiction?”

He received the following responses:

  • “It’s not irony, he considers himself fictosexual. It would be ironic if he actually believed she was a real person, but he doesn’t.”
  • “Where’s the irony? He himself said she’s fictional, he’s aware of it.”
  • “The irony is that even a person who married a fictional person is more aware of differentiating reality from fiction, and half of Twitter can’t.”
