The story follows Murai, an unassuming high school boy who confesses his love for teacher Tanaka, a woman who is a fan of otome games. When Tanaka refuses Murai’s advances, Murai returns the next day a changed man: new hair, new style, all imitating Tanaka’s favorite character in an otome game. Now Murai sets out to be the man of Tanaka’s dreams.

Murai in Love (Murai no Koi) inspired an eight-episode live-action series on TBS that aired from April 6 to May 25, 2022.
