New Project Announcement from Expelled from Paradise Staff
The staff behind the sci-fi anime film Expelled from Paradise have a new project in the works, and they will reveal it at the Virtual Anime Fes event on January 27th. You can see a promotional image for the announcement above.
The new anime film will be produced by Toei Animation, with direction by Seiji Mizushima (Fullmetal Alchemist, Mobile Suit Gundam 00), story by Gen Urobuchi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Psycho-Pass, Suisei no Gargantia), and production by Kouichi Noguchi. The project was originally planned to be announced in spring 2023, but it was delayed. It was also revealed that Masatsugu Saitō (Cyborg 009 Call of Justice) will be the character designer for the new film. You can see a teaser image drawn by Saitō below.
Expelled from Paradise is a 2014 anime film that won the 24th Japan Movie Critics Awards. It is set in a future where most of humanity lives in a virtual world and follows Angela, a researcher who visits Earth for the first time in a robotic body, Ahan, that has high combat capabilities. She teams up with Dingo, an investigator on Earth, and embarks on a journey of survival.
Seiji Mizushima’s recent works include the D4DJ franchise from Bushiroad, which consists of D4DJ First Mix, D4DJ Double Mix, and D4DJ All Mix, animated by Sanzigen (Arpeggio of Blue Steel, Wooser’s Hand-to-Mouth Life, BBK/BRNK).
