This summary episode ends up worrying fans, since the first season faced several production problems that led to the last 4 episodes being postponed for several months.
The first season premiered on January 8, 2023, but its 12 episodes only finished airing on July 23, 2023.
NieR: Automata Ver1.1a has the supervision of Yoko Tarothe creator of the game. It is animated by A-1 Pictures (Lycoris Recoil, 86: Eighty-Six, Sword Art Online, Magi) and is directed by Ryouji Masuyama (Blend S, Hello WeGo!). Character design is by Jun Nagai and the musical themes are from the music studio MONACA. The game’s cast of 2B (Yui Ishikawa), 9S (Natsuki Hanae), Pod 042 (Hiroki Yasumoto), and Pod 153 (Kaoru Akiyama) return to reprise their roles.

The game NieR: Automata was released for PlayStation 4 in Japan in February 2017, followed by North America and Europe in March 2017. Square Enix also released the game for PC via Steam in March 2017 and for Xbox One in June 2018. The game was released on Nintendo Switch on October 6.
