When online services are discontinued, will StreetPass and SpotPass also no longer be available?
StreetPass employs local communication between Nintendo 3DS family systems, meaning it will continue to be available even after online services are discontinued. However, since SpotPass employs online communication, it will no longer be available.
For example, you will still be able to use StreetPass in the StreetPass Mii Square, which comes pre-installed on Nintendo 3DS systems, but you will no longer be able to use options that use online communication (such as receiving new panels in the Puzzle Exchange).
