Osamake author criticizes Doga Kobo studio for dirty adaptation

Do you remember the anime Osamake? If not, it’s that anime about a childhood friend who refuses to lose to the other girl over the guy she likes.

When the light novel debuted it was a huge success and sold a lot by its standards, having reprints and was talked about a lot here, so much so that it got a quick anime.

However, the anime was a disaster in terms of animation, the studio that adapted Osamake is Doga Kobo, the same as Oshi no Ko, which was very well animated.

Basically Shuiichi Nimaru commented on a publication about the anime “Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi”, also animated by Doga Kobo and doesn’t have bad animation.

Nimaru said that as the author, he had difficulty watching more 4 episodes of Osamake and he says he suffered from writer’s block for 6 months due to great disappointment you had with the animeHe also reveals that he sank into alcohol, drinking a lot.

And now comes perhaps the most shocking fact of how a bad adaptation can influence the original material, he says that before the anime, only the first volume of the light novel had 19 reprints in 22 months, totaling 54 reprints for all volumes, but after the anime was broadcast, the Novel volumes were no longer reprinted! Indicating that people are no longer buying like they used to.

And there’s more, throwing gasoline on the fire, some fans raised a fact, could Roshidere end up suffering the same fate as Osamake? Remembering that Roshidere is one of the most popular light novels today.

So if the adaptation is bad, it could influence the sales of the light novel, as the author of Osamake is saying what happened with his work because of the adaptation that Doga Kobo made.

Doga Kobo prioritized the release of its original anime for the next season, “Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai” and Roshidere was postponed until July.
