Oshi no Ko 2 gets trailer and premiere date at AnimeJapan 2024

The event AnimeJapan 2024 is being held this weekend in Japan and it has been revealed that the second season of the anime series adaptation of the manga Oshi no Ko (My Star) by Akasaka Aka with illustrations by Mengo Yokoyari will premiere in July 2024. The first trailer for the new season and a promotional image were also revealed.

Animation is the responsibility of the studio Doga Kobo (New Game!, Ikebukuro West Gate Park), the direction is Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection Project) and Chao Nekotomi (Love is Like a Cocktail), the script is by Jin Tanaka (The Misfit of Demon King Academy) and character design is the responsibility of Kanna Hirayama (Rent-A-Girlfriend).

In the cast we have:

  • Takeo Ōtsuka as Aqua
  • Yurie Igoma as Ruby
  • Kent Itō as Gorō
  • Tomoyo Takayanagi as Sarina
  • Yumi Uchiyama as Young Aqua
  • Megumi Han as Kana Arima

Akasaka Aka began his career as an assistant to the manga creators Deadman Wonderland and was designed to star with its manga Kaguya-sama: Love is War (Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai: Tensai-tachi no Renai Zunousen) which was adapted into an anime.

Synopsis of Oshi no Ko

16-year-old Ai Hoshino is a beautiful and talented idol who is adored by her fans. She is the epitome of purity, but not all that glitters is gold… Gorou Honda is a gynecologist from a rural area and a big fan of Ai. So when the pregnant idol shows up at her hospital, he’s more than a little perplexed. Gorou promises a safe birth, but little does he know that an encounter with a mysterious figure would result in her premature death, or so he thought.

Opening his eyes, Gorou finds himself in the lap of his beloved idol and discovers that he has been reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino, the newborn son of Ai! With his world turned upside down, Gorou soon discovers that show business is full of thorns and that talent does not always bring success. Will he be able to protect his beloved idol’s smile?
