Player Eats Opponent’s Card to Win Game

Pokémon is a large franchise with several different products, in addition to traditional games, there is also the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), which has serious tournaments around the world. A story about a tournament that took place at the end of 2023 went viral again on the internet.

I don’t understand much about the Pokémon TCG rules, but let’s see what the PyppyDuels profile reported in September 2023. He said: “Someone in this tournament just ate their opponent’s Lost Vacuum and called a judge to check their deck!” Lost Vacuum is one of several cards in the Pokémon TCG.

To clarify for those who don’t play and don’t know the rules of the game, PuppyDuels explained how the rules work:

“In the Pokémon TCG, there are local tournaments known as League Cups that give you points to qualify for the World Championship, so they are of a higher standard than regular local games. One of these standards is to have a deck list submitted before the tournament. If you have an invalid deck list (wrong cards, missing cards, etc.), you may receive a penalty such as a game loss.

The individual ate one of the opponent’s cards to cause the deck to not match the submitted deck list. So when a judge checked the deck, it would appear wrong (missing a card) and result in a game loss.”

Basically, what this guy did was eat his opponent’s card and call a judge, who would verify that his opponent’s deck did not comply with the list submitted, thus causing the loss of the game.

However, nothing ended up being done. He would be disqualified, but as he lost the match anyway, the judges took no further action. According to PuppyDuels, the person who ate the letter was constantly going to the bathroom.

What a story huh!
