The official website for the anime adaptation of the manga Plus-Sized Elf (Elf-san wa Yaserarenai) by Synecdoche has started showing a new trailer where we can hear the opening theme “Fried☆Pride” by “REAL AKIBA BOYZ loves Kasumi Taguchi&AiRyA from REAL AKIBA BAND”. The ending theme will be “Minna DE Diet” (Everybody Will Go on a Diet) by “But I Want to Eat Team”.
With its premiere scheduled for July 6th, the animation was delivered to the studio Elijahthe direction is Toshikatsu Tokoro (Why the Hell are You Here, Teacher!?, Soul Link, Hunter X Hunter: GI Final), the plot is by Yuki Takabayashi (Love Rice, Dia Horizon (Kabu) and the character design is by Katsuyuki Sato (Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!, My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex).
The color design is Yukiko Ario (Talentless Nana, Good Night World), art direction is by Shinobu Takahashi (Girls und Panzer der Film, Ichigo 100%) and the cinematography is by Yoshikazu Miyagawa (Why the Hell are You Here, Teacher!?).
The edition is by Keisuke Yanagi (Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again, Kingdom), sound direction is by Takayuki Yamaguchi (KamiErabi GOD.app, Eromanga Sensei) and the music is the responsibility of Cher Watanabe (Aikatsu! Planet, The Prince of Tennis).

Plus-Sized Elf (Elf-san wa Yaserarenai) began serialization in Wani Books’ Comic Gum in December 2016. After a half-year hiatus, the manga moved to Akita Shoten’s Dokodemo Young Champion in October 2021, ending shortly thereafter, with its 8th volume being published in November 2021. Akita Shoten began re-releasing the first seven volumes of the original manga in June 2022.
In the description of Plus-Sized Elf we can read:
Naoe-kun, a massage therapist, is about to head home when he comes across a rather strange patient. This lovely lady has emerald eyes, pointy ears and grew up in the forest – everything about her screams “elf” except one thing: her corpulent body. It turns out she left her world, but she loves junk food in this one, and now her obsession has caught up with her. Can Naoe-kun help this lovely elf lose weight?
A “second season” of this manga with the title Plus-Sized Elf: Second Helping (Shin Plus-Sized Elf) began publication in November 2021 on LINE Manga. A Akita Shoten will publish its third volume on January 26, 2024.
