A Avex Pictures in this Anime Expo 2024 revealed this promotional image of the short anime Garden of Remembrance in Naoko Yamada.
Scheduled to premiere in 2024, the character design is Etsuko Mizusawa (Hello, this is Terumi) and the music is the responsibility of Lovely Summer-chan.
According to the co-founder and producer of Science SARU, Eunyoung Choishe presented the idea of making a short anime film centered on music to Naoko Yamada.
Yamada described the anime’s theme as “Someone is thinking about someone, where the heart’s destiny lies.” Both Choi and Yamada created key words and concepts for the project, compiling them into a single poem, with Yamada producing the film and Lovely Summer-chan composing the music. In the announcement, Yamada described Lovely Summer-chan as an “invincible girl.”
Yamada revealed that he asked for Mizusawa to draw the characters in a “chubby” way.
Yamada is a veteran director of several works in Kyoto Animationbefore leaving the studio and moving to Saru Sceince as a director in 2021. There she directed The Heike Storyhis first work with the studio, which premiered in September 2021. In Kyoto Animationshe directed some of the studio’s most iconic works, including K-ON!, A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, Tamako Market It is Tamako Love Story. She was also the director of Sound! Euphonium.
