Promotional video for the anime film Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom

Scheduled to debut in autumn 2024, the Kodokawa started showing this promotional video for Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom (Overlord: Sei Oukoku Hen), the anime film based on the novel Overlord in Kugane Maruyama with illustrations by so-bin.

This anime film Overlord will adapt volumes 12 and 13 of the novel, that is, the “Holy Kingdom” arc. More details will be revealed in the AnimeJapan 2024 which will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 23rd and 24th.

The staff is the same so the animation is from the studio Madhousethe direction is Naoyuki Itou (Re: Cutie Honey, One Piece specials), the argument is Yukie Sugawara (Sword Art Online) and the character design is by Satoshi Tasaki (Diamond no Ace: Act II, No Game No Life: Zero).

Overlord It began publication in July 2012 and a manga adaptation by Satoshi Oushio and Hugin Miyama began publication in November 2014.

The season of the anime series Overlord of 13 episodes premiered in Japan in July 2015 and the second aired from January to April 2018. The third season premiered in July 2018 and the fourth in July 2022.

Overlord Synopsis

The story begins with Yggdrasil, a popular online game that one day is quietly closed. However, the protagonist Momonga decides not to log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as “the most powerful wizard.” The world continues to change, with NPCs beginning to feel emotions. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this young man struggles to dominate this new world.
