A new game titled Rail Romanesque Origin is in production. The game is based on the game Maitetsu original and will be reconstructed with the addition of the story and worldview of Rail Romanesque.
Sekai Project launched Maitetsu on Steam in June 2018 and on the official website we can read:
Maitetsu takes place in an alternate reality Japan, where railways were the most popular form of travel and transportation. But the difference with these railways is that the locomotives were combined with humanoid modules called “Railords”. Due to a popular new form of travel, railroads were all but forgotten and were eventually discontinued.
Players will take on the role of Sotetsu, a recent graduate who, shortly after entering University, decides to return to his adopted city to save it from water pollution caused by the proliferation of factories. By chance, Sotetsu awakens “Hachiroku”, a recently deactivated Railord. He becomes her owner and decides to help her find her missing locomotive, “8620”, while trying to save his hometown in the process.
The game was released with an 18+ rating in Japan in March 2016. The game was released for PlayStation 4 under the title Maitetsu -pure station- in July 2018. A Nintendo Switch version will be released on January 16 in Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
