Editor's Review
“Actually, I am…”, also known as “Jitsu wa Watashi wa”, is a unique anime series that offers a fresh perspective on the romantic comedy genre. The series is set in a high school environment and follows the life of Asahi Kuromine, a student who is unable to keep a secret. His life takes a turn when he discovers that his crush, Youko Shiragami, is actually a vampire.
One of the standout features of “Actually, I am…” is its unique premise and its focus on the supernatural. Each episode introduces a new aspect of Asahi’s life, and then Asahi learns to adapt to these new experiences. This formulaic approach can make the show feel tedious at times, especially since an overarching story is near-nonexistent.
The animation quality of “Actually, I am…” is noteworthy. The series does not compromise on the quality of its animation. However, the sound design does not stand out as much, and may not be particularly memorable.
Despite its focus on comedy and romance, “Actually, I am…” also incorporates elements of drama. The series presents a variety of scenarios that Asahi must navigate, adding depth to the story. The series also does a good job of presenting its characters in a logical order, allowing viewers to easily follow the story.
In conclusion, “Actually, I am…” is a highly enjoyable series that offers a unique take on the romantic comedy genre. With its well-developed characters, engaging story, and high-quality animation, “Actually, I am…” is a must-watch for fans of the genre.
