Editor's Review
“Bullbuster” is a unique anime that debuted in the Fall of 2023. The series is produced by Nut and is based on an original story. The narrative revolves around a young engineer, Tetsurou Okino, who is transferred to a vermin extermination company called Hato Industries with the new robot Bullbuster that he developed himself.
The series begins with Hato Industries, a small company with little money, and its president Tajima are against a mysterious creature. There are fuel costs for robots, labor costs for pilots, and of course, wasting even a single bullet is unacceptable. Between their ideals of extermination and the reality of budgets, what does the future hold for Hato?
The anime has been met with mixed reviews. Some viewers have praised the concept of the protagonist being an engineer as fascinating. They’ve also complimented the aesthetic design of the creatures and the mechas.
However, critics argue that the series is uninteresting, dull, and stripped of humor. The character arcs are described as lifeless, making it a chore to watch the show each week. Despite these criticisms, the series has gained a score of 5.68 and a popularity rank of #10663 on MyAnimeList.
In conclusion, “Bullbuster” is an anime that attempts to bring a fresh perspective to the action and sci-fi genres. While it has its strengths, particularly in its unique premise, it falls short in crucial areas such as character development and plot progression. It’s a series that might appeal to fans of action and sci-fi anime, but others might find it lacking in depth and complexity.
