“Hanamaru Kindergarten” is a delightful anime series adapted from a manga written and illustrated by Yuto and published by Square Enix. The series is set in a kindergarten and follows the charming and humorous adventures of a young girl named Anzu.
Anzu, the protagonist, is a kindergarten student who is in love with her teacher, Tsuchida Naozumi. She tries to win his affection but always fails, which forms the crux of the series. Anzu’s innocent attempts to make Tsuchida fall in love with her are both heartwarming and hilarious, providing plenty of comedic moments throughout the series.
The series also introduces us to Anzu’s friends, the shy Koume and the eccentric Hiiragi. Together, they try to attract attention from their caretaker Tsuchida. However, Tsuchida is more interested in Yamamoto Nanako, a fellow kindergarten teacher who supervises the class next door. This forms a love triangle that adds an extra layer of complexity to the plot.
The anime does an excellent job of portraying the innocence and simplicity of childhood. The characters are well-developed, each with their unique personality traits. Anzu’s relentless optimism and determination, Koume’s shyness, and Hiiragi’s eccentricity all contribute to making the characters relatable and engaging.
