Editor's Review
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan

“The Faraway Paladin: The Lord of the Rust Mountains” is a captivating continuation of the original series that manages to maintain the charm and intrigue of its predecessor while introducing new elements that enhance the overall narrative.

The series begins with a sense of familiarity, yet quickly diverges into uncharted territory, providing a fresh perspective on the world we’ve come to know. The introduction of a halfling troubadour adds a touch of whimsy to the otherwise dark fantasy setting. This character serves as a reminder of the importance of companionship and camaraderie in our lives.

One of the standout aspects of this series is its ability to effectively convey the passage of time. This is done subtly, yet effectively, grounding us in the story and allowing us to fully appreciate the growth and development of the characters. In particular, the role reversal of a dwarf warrior serving as a mentee rather than a mentor provides a refreshing twist on traditional fantasy tropes.

The animation quality is another highlight of the series. The beautiful visuals complement the engaging storyline, enhancing the overall viewing experience. The series exudes a “Lord of the Rings” vibe, which is sure to appeal to fans of epic fantasy.

Despite these positive aspects, the series is not without its flaws. The titular “Lord of the Rust Mountains” is notably absent from the early episodes, which may leave some viewers feeling a bit misled. However, this does little to detract from the overall enjoyment of the series.

In conclusion, “The Faraway Paladin: The Lord of the Rust Mountains” is a worthy successor to the original series. It successfully builds upon the foundation laid by its predecessor, introducing new characters and plot elements that keep the narrative fresh and engaging. Whether you’re a fan of the original series or a newcomer to the franchise, this series is sure to provide an enjoyable viewing experience.
