Editor's Review
“Salaryman’s Club” is an anime that offers a unique blend of sports and slice-of-life genres. The series is set in a world where the protagonist, Mikoto Shiratori, a former child prodigy, has not been living up to his potential as a badminton player for Mitsuhoshi Bank. Due to a past incident, Mikoto tries to transition from playing doubles to singles; nevertheless, he fails to produce positive results.
The series is known for its realistic approach to storytelling. It has a bit of a slice-of-life feel combined with sports anime. The pacing was nicely done and the storytelling was great as well. It is a fun watch, but people who are into shounen staples might be put off watching this.
The protagonist, Mikoto, is a strong and independent character, which is a refreshing change from the usual sports anime trope. The supporting characters are also well-developed, each with their own unique personalities and quirks.
However, “Salaryman’s Club” is not without its flaws. The series can sometimes feel like it’s trying too hard to be a parody, which can detract from the overall narrative. Despite this, the series manages to maintain its charm and appeal.
In conclusion, “Salaryman’s Club” is a unique and entertaining take on the sports genre. Its blend of comedy, action, and parody, combined with its well-executed animation and compelling narrative, make it a must-watch for any anime fan.
