Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE

“Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE” is an anime series that stands out for its unique blend of adventure, fantasy, and romance. The series is based on the manga from the renowned mangaka group CLAMP. It tells the tale of Syaoran and Princess Sakura, two young adults who live in the kingdom of Clow County.

The story revolves around Syaoran, a young archaeologist, and Princess Sakura. One night, Sakura is beckoned to the ruins Syaoran is exploring by a strange power. As a result, her soul gets scattered into many feathers that disappear into different dimensions. In attempts to save Sakura’s life and restore her memory, Syaoran travels through different dimensions to collect Sakura’s feathers.

Helping out with the quest are Kurogane, an exiled ninja from Japan Country who wishes to return to his world, the runaway magician, Fay, who desires to jump between each world never to return to his own and the white meat-bun shaped creature, Mokona.

One of the standout features of “Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE” is its visual presentation. The animation quality is top-notch, with retro character designs and vibrant color palettes. Each episode offers a unique visual experience, making “Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE” a feast for the eyes.

However, “Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE” has its share of flaws. The game throws you completely into the deep end, drowning you in unfamiliar technical jargon and historical lore that you feel you’re supposed to know already. There are also several disjointed scenes throughout the game with fleeting characters and hanging plot threads that clearly connect to previous Muv-Luv games.

Despite these shortcomings, “Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE” remains an enjoyable watch thanks to its focus on character drama and its willingness to take risks. Whether you’re a fan of mecha and terminology heavy visual novels or looking for a series with substance and depth, “Tsubasa RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE” is definitely worth checking out.
