The official website of Space Battleship Yamato revealed that the two films Uchū Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi (Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage) will be converted into an 8-episode anime series that will premiere on May 1st. Synopsis of Uchuu Senkan Yamato
The story takes place in the distant future, in the year 2199 the Earth was bombarded by radioactive asteroids from the planet Gamilus, which is why humanity is in danger of extinction. In orbit around Mars, cadets Kodai Susumu and Shima Daisuke find a crashed ship containing a message from the queen of the planet Iscandar, in which she offers her help to the inhabitants of Earth, providing them with a blueprint for building an engine that will will allow them to travel faster than light and thus be able to reach, in less than a year, the Sunzar system, where the planet Iscandar is located.
