
On October 26th, the meeting of the Japan House São Paulo Reading Clubthe theme of the meeting will be manga Sunny Sunny Ann! in Miki Yamamoto.
With the mediation of Natasha Barzaghi Geenencultural director of JHSP, and Paulo Werneckeditor of Quatro Cinco Um magazine, the meeting will be held via the Zoom platform and participation is free.
This edition the meeting will have as a guest the cartoonist Caco Galhardoknown for his strips published in the Folha de São Paulo newspaper as well as having published books such as the adaptation “Don Quixote in Comics” (Peirópolis) and other titles such as “Doctor Vanishing” (Companhia das Letrinhas) and “Five Thousand Years” (Comics at Cia).
O Japan House São Paulo Reading Club discusses books by Japanese authors translated directly from Japanese into Portuguese, with the aim of expanding Brazilians’ access to this literary universe. The discussion in the Reading Club is informal, and seeks to open space so that participants can feel comfortable sharing their readings and points of view.

Published in Japan between 2011 and 2012, Sunny Sunny Ann! was published in the magazine Morning and its chapters were compiled into a single volume. This work is the second title of Miki Yamamoto – which caught the attention of critics since its debut – and earned it the Osamu Tezuka Cultural Awardas New Artist in 2013. With this manga, Miki was also selected and finalist for the Angoulême International Comic Festival in 2019. In Brazil the work was published by JBC Publisher.

Far from society’s standards, Ann decides to live without a routine, on the roads in her car, to be where she wants, when she wants. On her path, Ann ventures as she sees fit and sheds light on questions about life, happiness and freedom.
