A Nintendo commented to its shareholders in the most recent presentation of its financial results that the game Super Mario Bros. Wonder has sold more than 4.3 million copies worldwide since its release on Nintendo Switch Two weeks ago. The company also said that this is also the fastest-selling modern game in the series.
Shuntaro Furukawathe president of Nintendo commented the following:
Super Mario Bros. Wonder, released worldwide on October 20th, achieved cumulative global sales of 4.3 million units in its first two weeks, making it the fastest-selling Super Mario-related title. Super Mario-related titles also tend to sell consistently over a long period of time. We expect this title to be an appealing choice for consumers during the upcoming festive season and that it will continue to sell into next year as well. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the first new title in the Super Mario side scroller series in around 11 years. This title provides new and surprising Mario experiences in 2D, we believe that this was generated by the global enthusiasm for the film Super Mario Bros., which resulted in a large number of sales.
