You can see above a teaser trailer for generAIdoscopean original film from REALCOFFEE ENTERTAINMENT entirely made with generative AI that will premiere in theaters in 2024.
The film consists of three stories and is directed by Hirotaka Adachi (Otsuichi), Takeshi Sone (One Cut of the Dead) and Hiroki Yamaguchi (Bloody Chainsaw Girl).
A REALCOFFEE ENTERTAINMENT revealed that the original stories were written especially for the project and that all of the film’s video, audio and music were created using AI.

Monkeys’ Odyssey by Hirotaka Adachi
During the Age of Exploration, a sailor washes ashore on an island inhabited by monkeys. The monkeys become interested in the books the sailor is carrying as cargo and begin to read them. The monkeys instantly gain intelligence from reading the books and begin to wear clothes, make basic tools, and eventually iron tools. The sailor then decides to use the monkeys to escape the island.
Adachi use the pseudonym Otsuichi for his novels such as Calling You, Goth, and its anime film adaptation Summer Ghost by loundraw. Under his name Hirotaka Adachi, he wrote the screenplay for the film Summer Ghost and the movie Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirrorfrom 2009. More recently, Netflix adapted Adachi’s original story into a horror anime series, titled Exceptionin 2022.
AZUSA by Takeshi Sone
Azusa Ishizuka is an eccentric girl who has a tendency to daydream. One day, she dreams that she meets a designer at a cafe. In the real world, the designer Azusa met is her deceased mother. Wanting to meet her mother in the real world, Azusa travels between her dreams and the real world to make her dream come true.
Sone has been independently producing AI films since 2023. Sone directed the film My Universe here 2023 AIand was selected for screening at the Japanese Serbian Film Festival that same year.
Grandma Rivet by Hiroki Yamaguchi
In a distant future world, Grandma Rivet (character name not confirmed), a former magician, travels across a country with her cat and musical instrument, with a single purpose. She goes from a ruined city to a forest to a huge underground city, and eventually the purpose of her journey is revealed.
Yamaguchi began video production using generative AI this year. His sci-fi short film titled “IMPROVEMENT CYCLE” is competing in the new “AI Film International Competition” of the 2024 Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, which runs from July 4 to 14. On July 4, the AI short film won an award at the Gyeongsangbuk-do International AI Metaverse Film Festival in South Korea.
