The mangaka Moyoco Anno announced that his manga The Diary of Ochibi-san will be adapted into an anime series by Studio Khara (Rebuild of Evangelion), her husband’s studio, Hideaki Anno (creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion). You can see the announcement trailer above.
The anime series of short 5-minute episodes will premiere on October 8th and 24 episodes are planned.
With animation by Studio Khara (Rebuild of Evangelion), the direction is from Daisuke Onizuka (Evangelion CGI direction: 2.0, 3.0, 3.0+1.0), CG direction was given to Masaki Ishikawa, Satoshi Yamauchi It is Yō Kyūdaand the music is the responsibility of Satoru Kousaki (Vivy -Fluorite Eye’s Song-).

The Diary of Ochibi-san (Ochibi-san) began to be published in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper in August 2008 and ended in December 2019. The work was compiled into 10 volumes.
The manga has already inspired a stop-motion animation that was part of the project Japan Animator Expo in Hideaki Anno With your Studio Khara and the Dwango in 2014.

In Mametsubu-cho, a small town somewhere in Japan’s ancient capital Kamakura, cheerful Ochibi lives an easy and free life. Together with his friends – the dog Nazeni, the mischievous cat Jack and the ever-hungry dog Pankui – he welcomes the new discoveries and knowledge that come with the changing seasons.
Spring brings flowers and foliage; in summer, opportunities to swim in the cool sea. With autumn comes the red maples and winter brings warm and healthy meals.
These events and seasonal changes are designed with a soft and tender touch, bringing warmth to everyday details.
