The last episode of the second season of the anime series adaptation of the novel The Eminence in Shadow (Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!) by Daisuke Aizawa (history) and Touzai (art) announced that it is in production “The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes“, an anime film with the same title as the 5th volume of the novel. You can see a first promotional image above.
On December 28th, a special program will be shown on YouTube to celebrate the end of The Eminence in Shadow 2 and more news is expected from this sequel in the form of an anime film.
Animation is the responsibility of Nexus (Darwin’s Game, Granbelm), directed by Kazuya Nakanishi (chief animation director of Darwin’s Game), the script is by Kanichi Katou (Black Clover, Those Snow White Notes) and the character design is by Makoto Iino (Suppose a Kid From the Last Dungeon Boonies Moved to a Starter Town, Demon Lord, Retry!).

Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! (The Eminence in Shadow) began publication in November 2018 and a manga adaptation by Anri Sakano began publication in Monthly Comp Ace in December 2018.
A spin-off manga dubbed Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!: Shadow Gaiden (The Eminence in Shadow: Shadow Side Story) written and illustrated by Arrow Ubegan rolling out in Monthly Comp Ace in July 2019.
Synopsis of Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! (The Eminence in Shadow)
Great heroes and diabolical villains are the kind of characters people want to be like, but that’s not the case with Cid Kagenou. He aspires to become the mastermind behind it all, pulling the strings and making his machinations propel the story forward. In his previous life in Japan he was unable to achieve his goals, but now, reborn into a world of magic, he will show the true eminence of the shadow!
While Cid pretends to be just another character, he recruits members of his (fake) organization “Shadow Garden”, with the aim of putting an end to a mysterious cult that lurks in the shadows.
