“The Fable” Anime Series to Premiere in April and Run for 6 Months

The latest issue of Weekly Young Magazine has confirmed that the anime adaptation of the manga “The Fable” by Katsuhisa Minami will premiere in April 2024 and run for a duration of 6 months. This means it will consist of two cours (2 parts) that will be continuously aired.

  • Animation Studio: The anime will be animated by Tezuka Productions (known for works like “Adachi to Shimamura” and “Kanojo mo Kanojo).
  • DirectorRyousuke Takahashi (known for “Armored Trooper Votoms,” “Phoenix,” and “Ozma”).
  • Story: Written by Yūya Takashima and Mayumi Morita (known for “Black Jack” and “Vampire Knight).
  • Character Design: Handled by Hisama KinoshitaSaki Hasegawa, and Junichi Hayama.

The Fable manga began serialization in November 2014 in Weekly Young Magazine and concluded in November 2019. With 22 volumes, it was awarded the title of the best manga at the Kodansha Manga Awards in 2017.

 The Fable’s Synopsis 

When you’re the infamous “genius assassin” known as The Fable, many things come easily. However, being a regular person is not one of them. In fact, hearing that you can’t kill anyone for a while might be the toughest job you’ve ever had…

The original manga inspired two live-action films, which premiered in Japan in June 2019 and June 2021.

The sequel manga, “The Fable: The Second Contact”, began serialization by Katsuhisa Minami in July 2021, with its 8th volume released by Kodansha on August 4, 2023.


This gripping story explores the complexities of an assassin’s life and the challenges that come with trying to be “normal.”
