The LEGO Orient Express Train

A LEGO revealed today the new L setEGO Ideas The Orient Express Train, a journey back in time to one of the most unforgettable ways to travel around Europe. Over almost a century, between 1883 and 1977, the Orient Express it was the reference in rail travel on the Old Continent, which the Accor Group intends to return to the rails in 2024.

Thought by Thomas Lajona 27-year-old LEGO fan living in Paris, the project was presented within the platform LEGO Ideas. After being voted on by the public to be analyzed by the brand, it now becomes an official set.

Launched to celebrate the 140th anniversary of the trainthe new 2540-piece LEGO set transports builders back to the golden age of travel, with some impressive key features such as the main locomotive, tender, sleeping cars and dining cars.

The LEGO Ideas set The Orient Express Train It also has removable roofs to allow access to the detailed interiors, eight LEGO minifigures, including the driver, a boss, employees and a variety of passengers that portray different types of traveler. It is also possible to find, throughout the magnificent set, decoration alluding to the points that the train visited on its original route.

The set was designed by Thomas Lajon, a 27-year-old LEGO fan living in Paris, as part of the LEGO Ideas program. Once designed, 10,000 people voted for it to become an official set. In statements regarding his idea, Thomas Lajon stated:

I’ve always been a big fan of locomotives, sailboats and ocean liners. When I was little, I collected everything related to them. Years later, my girlfriend encouraged me to get back in touch with LEGO bricks, and knowing my love for trains, she motivated me to build one. Naturally, I chose to build the Orient Express, a sumptuous French train, at the center of many stories.
