A TOHO announced that its board of directors decided to acquire all shares of the anime studio Science SARU, effective June 19th. The studio will thus become its consolidated subsidiary, starting in the second quarter (June-August) of the fiscal year that will end in February 2025.
With this acquisition, the TOHO aims to strengthen its high-quality anime production capacity and accelerate the growth of its anime business. A TOHO acquired controlling interest in the studio AUNT (TOHO Interactive Animation) in 2022 and made it a subsidiary company under the new name TOHO Animation STUDIO.
As we reported, the director Masaaki Yuasa (Devilman crybaby, Ping Pong the Animation, Mind Game) founded the studio Science SARU together with the producer Eunyoung Choi in February 2013.
The studio’s next project Science SARU It’s the anime movie The Colors Within (Kiminoiro) which will premiere on August 30, 2024.
