Yet another Japanese store specializing in doujins and hentai products has suspended the use of Visa and Mastercard credit cards due to censorship imposed by these companies.
The Tora store in Ana announced on its official website which has suspended transactions with Visa and Mastercard credit cards, recommending that its customers use other brands, such as the Japanese credit card JCB.
The company apologized for the inconvenience, especially to international customers, who are most affected by the suspension as Visa and Mastercard dominate the credit card market outside Japan.
Tora no Ana suspends Visa and Mastercard payments due to censorship

Recently, an adult manga author shared on his profile that his loli-themed work was removed from the Tora no Ana store. Other users suggested that the reason was pressure from credit card companies.
It appears that Tora no Ana attempted to comply with Visa and Mastercard’s requirements, but upon realizing the excessive restrictions, decided to suspend the use of those cards. Another possibility is that the suspension is temporary, while the store adjusts to the new censorship rules.
Credit card companies Visa and Mastercard have been waging a war on adult content, forcing stores like DLsite, Fanza, Fantia, and even video sites like Nico Nico Douga to censor products deemed “problematic.” In response, the use of JCB cards is becoming increasingly popular, as the brand does not impose the same restrictions on products sold online.
Even online stores that sell JAV movies have been targeted for having “problematic tags” in the eyes of Visa and Mastercard. Pro-anime Japanese politicians have already denounced several times that foreign companies are trying to impose censorship on Japanese content.
Recently, the adult games online store Denpasoft also was forced to withdraw several titles at the behest of the bank responsible for its financial operations.
