In the description of Ikoku Nikki (Diary of a Strange Land) we can read:
The manga’s story revolves around 35-year-old novelist Makio Kōdai and his 15-year-old niece Asa, who live together under the same roof. Makio took Asa in on a sudden impulse after Asa’s parents, which included Makio’s older sister, passed away. The next day, Makio comes to her senses and remembers that she doesn’t do well in the company of other people. This is how their daily life begins, as Makio tries to get used to a roommate, while Asa tries to get used to an adult who never acts like one.
