Synopsis of Dandadan

After being aggressively rejected, Momo Ayase becomes angry when she bumps into a boy who is being bullied. Saved by her reckless kindness, the occult-obsessed boy tries to talk to her about supernatural interests he thinks they share. Dismissing his claims, Ayase proclaims that she believes in ghosts, sparking an argument between the two over which one is real, aliens or ghosts. In a bet to determine who is right, the two decide to separately visit places related to the occult and the supernatural: Ayase visits the first and the boy the second.

When the two arrive at their respective places, it turns out that they were half right, both aliens and ghosts exist. This marks the beginning of the adventure for Ayase and the boy, who shares a name with Ayase’s favorite idol, Ken Takakura, as they try to fix the supernatural and surreal sci-fi elements around them to return to a normal life.
