At Anime Expo 2024 This trailer for the anime adaptation of the manga was shown Blue Box (Ao no Hako) of Kouji Miura where its premiere is confirmed for October 2024.
Animation is the responsibility of the studio Telecom Animation Film (Tower of God, Lupin III: Part IV, Orange) and the production is by UNLIMITED PRODUCE by TMS. The direction is Yuichiro Yano (Moyashimon, Lupin the Third: Part 5), the plot is Yuko Kakihara (Buddy Daddies, Cells at Work!, Chihayafuru seasons 2-3) and the character design is by Miho Tannin (Tower of God, Blue Thermal).
In the cast we have:
- Shoya Chiba like Taiki Inomata
- Queen Ueda as Chinatsu Kano
- Akari Kito as Hina Chono
- Chiaki Kobayashi as Kyo Kasahara
- Yuma Uchida like Kengo Haryū.
In January 2023 the manga Blue Box (Ao no Hako) was ranked first in the TOP of animes that most deserve an anime by the Japanese.
Blue Box (Ao no Hako) began publication in Weekly Shonen Jump in April 2021. Kouji Miura is also the author of other mangas such as Sensei, Suki desu. It is Aozora Rubber. Ao no Hako is based on a one-shot released in 2020.
Synopsis of Blue Box (Ao no Hako)
Taiki Inomata, a third-year student, attends Eimei Academy, an integrated school with a strong sports program. Having joined the high school badminton team, Taiki tries to attend open practices as early as possible. But no matter how early he arrives, he always arrives in second place at the gym. The person one step ahead of him is Chinatsu Kano, a first-year student and Taiki’s crush.
Chinatsu is the rising star of the basketball team, and the gap between her and Taiki couldn’t be wider. While Taiki is a decent badminton player, his popularity is nowhere near as great as Chinatsu’s, making it even less likely that her feelings will be reciprocated. However, in a strange twist of fate, she ends up living in Taiki’s house!
Wanting to become a worthy match for Chinatsu, Taiki pursues the same dream as his crush: to participate in the National Championship. Taiki begins to train harder than ever, all in order to build a strong relationship with his new housemate.
