With the trailer you can see above Shueisha revealed that the anime adaptation of the manga Sakamoto Dayswritten and illustrated by Yuto Suzuki, will premiere in January 2025 (Winter anime season). Previous to License Global had placed the series’ premiere on Netflix in 2024.
It was also confirmed that Tomokazu Sugita will play Taro Sakamoto, and below you can see a promotional image from the anime Sakamoto Days.
We also know that the animation is from the studio TMS Entertainment (Dr. STONE), the direction is Masaki Watanabe (KADO – The Right Answer, Bartender), the argument is Taku Kishimoto (BLUELOCK, Haikyu!!, Moriarty the Patriot) and the character design is by Yō Moriyama (Lupin the IIIrd: Goemon’s Blood Spray, Lupine the IIIrd: Jigen’s Gravestone).
Sakamoto Day began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump in November 2020. It is published simultaneously in English by Viz Media and the online platform Manga Plus.
Suzuki is also the author of other one-shot works, such as Locker Room It is Garaku. Sakamoto Days It originates from a one-shot he published in 2019, making it his first manga to be serialized.
Synopsis of Sakamoto Days
Taro Sakamoto used to be an unparalleled assassin, earning legendary status in the underworld. But one day, the unthinkable happened. Sakamoto fell in love.
