Trailer for the Live-Action/Anime hybrid Dragons of Wonderhatch

A Disney started showing this new trailer for its Live-Action/Anime hybrid Wonderhatch -Sora-Tobu Ryū no Shima- (Dragons of Wonderhatch or Wonderhatch: The Island of the Flying Dragons) which will premiere on Disney+ December 20, 2023.

The live-action segments portray the “real world”, while the anime segments portray another world where dragons live. The animation is the responsibility of the studio Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East).

The story is by Kyōta Fujimoto, Takamasa Ōe and Anna Kawahara and production was handed over to Teruhisa Yamamoto, Hitoshi Itou and Hideyuki Wakuta at C & I Entertainment (Rurouni Kenshin live-action, Tokyo Zombie live-action).

The main protagonists are Nagi, a student in the real world, and Tyme, a boy who lives in another world where dragon riders hear the screams of dragons and communicate with them.

The direction is Kentarō Hagiwara (Tokyo Ghoul live-action), the anime part is directed by Takashi Otsuka (Precure franchise, One Piece Stampede) and the character design is by Posuka Demizu (The Promised Neverland manga).

The actress Sena Nakajima plays Nagi, and the actor Daiken Okudaira (live-action Insomniacs After School) plays Tyme. Yoshito Emmanuelle plays Nagi’s friend Son and Mackenyu Arata plays the dragon rider Akuta.
