With this trailer the Twin Engine announced that an anime series adaptation of the manga will debut on July 7th. My Deer Friend Nokotan (Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan) by Oshioshio. Below you can see a promotional image.
With animation by Wit Studio (Attack on Titan, Spy x Family), directed by Masahiko Ohta (Minami-ke, Yuruyuri, Gabriel DropOut), the argument is Takashi Aoshima (No Game No Life. Himouto! Umaru-chan, Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!) and the character design is by Ayumu Tsujimura (Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu, Fruits Basket, Vivy: Fluorite Eye’s Song). Music is the responsibility of Yasuhiro Misawa (Kokoro Connect, Himouto! Umaru-chan, Hinamatsuri).
In the cast we have:
- Megumi Han as Noko Kanoko.
- Saki Fujita as Torako Koshi.
- Rui Tanabe as Koshi Anko.
- Fuuka Izumi like Bashamememe.
- Kousuke Toriumi as Narrator.
My Deer Friend Nokotan (Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan) began publication in November 2019 in Shonen Magazine Edge and the Kodansha will release its 5th volume on May 9, 2024.
Synopsis of My Deer Friend Nokotan
No one knows that Torako was a delinquent. All of her classmates know her only as the perfect student. But everything changes when Nokotan, a horned transfer student, enters her life. The horns aren’t the only strange thing about Nokotan. Her deer nose can sniff out Torako’s secret past! Whether at school or the zoo, chaos follows this doe-eyed girl’s every step. Torako has so many questions! Is Nokotan a deer, a girl, or something in between?
