Ubisoft boss says Cloud Streaming will change gaming just like Netflix changed TV

In an interview with Financial Times, Yves Guillemotthe head of Ubisoftstated that the future of video games is in Cloud Streaming and that when this change begins, everything will happen very quickly.

Giving the example of Netflix, Guillemot stated:

Their shares fell a lot and they were heavily criticized. Today, we see what they have become.

Admitting that it may still take a while for video game streaming to arrive from the Cloud, he added that when it starts, it will happen very quickly.

But when it takes off, it will happen very quickly.

These comments from Guillemot appear a few weeks after the Microsoft announce that it will sell the streaming rights to the Activision Blizzard The Ubisoft if it completed the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

The most recent example of Cloud Streaming for video games is Stadia from the Google which ended up not gaining much traction and was closed in January 2023.
