Kokushibo becomes one of the powerful enemies that the Demon Slayers have to face during the battle in Infinity Castle Arc Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is the Upper Moon Demon 1, the strongest Demon whose strength is confirmed to be only below the Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji.
Who killed Kokushibo in Kimetsu no Yaiba? Based on the manga, here’s the answer!
1. Who is Kokushibo?

That era was once considered the heyday of the Demon Slayer Corps, where Muzan was cornered and almost defeated by the strongest Demon Slayer at that time.
Kokushibo himself is named Michikatsu Tsugikuni. He is none other than the twin brother of the legendary strongest Demon Slayer.
However, throughout his life, Michikatsu was filled with envy over his twin’s achievements, especially in terms of strength. Moreover, Michikatsu was unable to master the Sun Breath that Yoriichi had created.
Instead, Michikatsu created Moon Breathing which he would continue to use even after he became a Demon.
With jealousy in his heart, it was not easy for Muzan to seduce Michikatsu to join him. He accepted Muzan’s blood and became a Demon named Kokushibo, betraying the Demon Slayer Corps and continuing to catch up with Yoriichi for almost 5 centuries.

Muichiro had impressed the ancestor he refused to acknowledge with his series of Mist Breathing attacks. However, it was very difficult for Muichiro to face Kokushibo alone, even with the Demon Slayer Mark he had managed to awaken.
Kokushibo, who recognized Muichiro’s swordsmanship skills, immediately countered with his Moon Breath and easily cut off Muichiro’s left hand.

4. Genya, Sanemi, and Gyomei follow

Kokushibo immediately recognized Genya’s power, and was about to slash Genya’s neck to kill him. Luckily, Sanemi arrived just in time and immediately protected his brother.
The intense battle between Sanemi and Kokushibo took place until the end. chapter 168. The Wind Pillar received many fatal injuries. However, because he is the owner of the blood March Rarely, Kokushibo who smelled the aroma then felt severe dizziness, accompanied by an increasingly rapid heartbeat.
At the end of chapter 168, Gyomei managed to catch up and provide assistance to his comrade. A fight between Gyomei and Kokushibo ensued, while Sanemi took the moment to stitch up his wounds.

5. Muichiro and Genya have to sacrifice their lives

Luckily, Muichiro rushed back to the battlefield, as did Genya who managed to recover after eating Kokushibo’s hair and a piece of the Demon’s katana, giving him the same abilities as Upper Moon 1.
The attacks that Kokushibo received forced him to evolve into a very terrifying form, especially thanks to Genya’s bullets that had grown a tree that continued to branch out from within Kokushibo’s body. As a result, the demon had difficulty activating his demon blood technique because the tree used too much of his blood.
Not only that, Muichiro also managed to plunge his sword into Kokushibo’s body. His katana turned red and burned Kokushibo’s cells from the inside. Sanemi and Gyomei also managed to change colors nichirin each of them. This made Kokushibo unable to heal his wounds quickly.
